Valitera hires former Delta Air Lines Carbon Lead as Senior Associate

New hire strengthens Valitera’s Aviation Carbon Expertise

Fast-growing carbon markets trading and advisory desk Valitera reinforces its expert team with the appointment of Tatiana Feuerhahn as senior associate. Tatiana will be responsible for the aviation advisory practice, supporting Valitera’s mission to unlock carbon markets to accelerate a net-zero world.

Before joining Valitera, Tatiana served as the carbon manager and global sustainability specialist at Delta Air Lines, where she oversaw the company's carbon credits program and CORSIA strategy, playing a crucial role in managing and procuring over 40 million credits for its carbon credit portfolio.

"I’m excited to join the Valitera team and share their commitment to leveraging environmental markets to support clients on their journey to net zero. Having worked at the world’s largest airline, I understand the realities and challenges associated with decarbonizing aviation and I want to use my expertise to support Valitera’s airline clients in navigating the environmental commodities market and deliver on their net zero promises.” Tatiana said.

“The Aviation industry is the only hard-to-abate industry group committed to net-zero carbon and is also facing compliance obligations under CORSIA and international emissions trading schemes. While the industry focuses on reducing their emissions through scaling SAF and increasing operational efficiencies, we cannot ignore the fact that there is not enough SAF that exists today to fuel the world’s commercial airlines for even a single day. All avenues to decarbonize should be explored, and this includes offsetting.”

Tatiana brings a wealth of knowledge in aviation sustainability best-practice and expertise with CORSIA, the LEAF Coalition, SBTi BVCM, EU ETS, and UK ETS. In addition to having represented Delta in ICAO’s working group focused on CORSIA compliance, Tatiana developed sustainability standards for the SkyTeam Alliance and supported Delta’s partner airlines’ sustainability initiatives.

Commenting on Tatiana's appointment, Rene Velasquez, managing partner at Valitera, said: "Tatiana's arrival marks a pivotal moment for Valitera as we fortify our expertise in sustainability advisory services. Her profound understanding of sustainability initiatives will be a game-changer in helping support all our clients who are navigating a nuanced and rapidly evolving carbon market."

The appointment comes a month after Valitera’s launch, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting clients with in-depth expertise and vast industry networks. It builds on Valitera’s senior management team of carbon leaders across every part of the market, from advisory to capacity training to sales and trading.
