4Air and Valitera sign Memorandum of Understanding for long-term SAF collaboration

New York, 23 Sept 2024 – Valitera, a leading provider of carbon markets trading and advisory services, and 4AIR, an established provider of sustainability solutions in the aviation industry, are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This MoU signifies the beginning of a strategic exploration into a long-term partnership to supply Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and its associated environmental attributes (SAFc). This partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of SAF in the aviation sector, helping to decarbonize operations and achieve near and long-term net zero goals.

“Valitera is committed to supporting its clients on their path to net zero by offering innovative solutions in carbon markets and beyond,” said Rene Velasquez, managing partner at Valitera. “Our collaboration with 4AIR will expand our capabilities in the SAF market and enable us to better serve our clients by providing them with access to sustainable aviationfuel solutions, a key tool in reducing aviation-related carbon emissions.”

Nancy Bsales, 4AIR’s COO, echoed this sentiment: “SAF is one of the key measures for aviation decarbonization. This partnership with Valitera is a natural progression to increase access to SAF and the benefits of the Assure SAF Registry. It is a pivotal step to bring in-sector solutions and enable all aviation operators and their customers access to achieve their ambitious climate goals and drive meaningful progress towards a sustainable future.”

The partnership will focus on ensuring a reliable and scalable supply of SAF and SAFc to aviation clients worldwide, contributing to industry-wide efforts to scale this industry. In 2023, SAF represented 0.11% of the aviation sector’s fuel consumption, up from 0.06% in 2022 (IAG). Although the SAF industry is experiencing rapid growth, its usage in 2024 remains below 1% (IATA). While government-level policies and incentives are essential for stimulating industry advancement, private sector collaboration undoubtedly plays a key role in addressing the challenges ahead, helping to bridge the gap between supply and demand.

Valitera and 4AIR both share a commitment to advancing environmental sustainability in the aviation industry and look forward to making a lasting impact on the global aviation ecosystem.
